Attracting Butterflies

This presentation will cover how you can use your landscape to attract butterflies, including monarchs.  We will cover host plants, nectar plants, puddling areas, and things to watch out for when buying plants such as plants grown with insecticide and ornamentals that no longer have nectar.

Janie Agyagos has over 25 years work experience with the US Forest Service in the capacity of a wildlife biologist.  Currently as the District Wildlife Staff, Janie is the sole wildlife biologist on a 550,000 acre district. She is responsible for inventorying and monitoring rare birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and plants. She is also responsible for designing and implementing habitat improvement projects; managing area closures that protect species and habitat; conducting project effect analyses and developing design features and mitigations for over 100 special status species coordinating with various agencies, academia, and NGOs; and developing and presenting various environmental education programs, brochures, signs, and articles.
