Workshop 4:  Chris Jensen:  Water Wise Landscaping

ChrisJensenRSThis presentation will include a discussion about the general climate conditions and threats to the water supply in the southwest as well as the need for conservation. The presentation will focus on how individual citizens can have beautiful landscaping while reducing their outdoor water use to accommodate a shrinking water supply. It will include specific suggestions for environmentally appropriate landscaping and methods of irrigation that will result in sustainable and beautiful landscaping that is low maintenance, and save homeowners money.

Chris Jensen is a retired educator and military veteran who is committed to the environmental health of the Verde Valley. He has a special concern about a sustainable water supply in the face of the current drought and climate change. Chris sits on the bards of the Verde River Valley Nature Organization and is one of the five supervisors of the Verde Natural Resource Conservation District. He has completed the Master Watershed Steward offered by the University of Arizona Yavapai Cooperative Extension and volunteers at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Chris is committed to educating the citizens of the Verde Valley about the wise use of this finite natural resource.
