Workshop 4:  Eric Moore:  Landscaping to Attract Birds to Your Yard

Interested in attracting a larger number and a wider variety of birds to your backyard?  What can you do to make your yard more inviting for our feathered friends?  Eric will talk about the importance of creating a bird-friendly yard and will give recommendations on native plants that provide seeds, nectar and fruit for wild birds as well as places for wild birds to rear young and seek shelter.  Creating a bird-friendly yard is easy when you mimic the natural environment that occurs through the Central Highlands area of Arizona.

Eric Moore grew up in Arizona and at a very young age developed a keen interest in birds.  By age 13 he joined the Tucson Audubon Society, and he has studied birds for over forty years.  Eric owns Jay’s Bird Barn, a backyard wild bird store in Prescott that specializes in helping folks attract wild birds to their yard.  Eric writes a weekly column for the Prescott Courier on wild birds, and is a frequent guest speaker for community events throughout northern Arizona.  Eric continues to be actively involved in the Audubon Society in Prescott, the Highlands Center for Natural History, and participates each year in the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival in Cottonwood.
