The City of Sedona is hosting a Star Party on Saturday August 4 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Posse Grounds Park.  The event is free and can be enjoyed by all ages.  There will be a presentation along with telescope viewing.

As the City notes, “As the last of the Winter constellations dip into the western horizon, the rich stream of stars in the Summer Milky Way are rising high in the sky. The constellations of Cygnus the Swan, Vulpecula the Fox, Aquila the Eagle, Sagittarius the Archer and Scorpius the Scorpion are just a few of the star rich areas that hide open clusters, planetary nebula, globular clusters and emission nebula only visible in the many telescopes that will be set up for everyone to view thru. The planets Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will also be visible. Laser guided constellation tours will also be available during the event.

This event is made possible through the collaboration between the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Keep Sedona Beautiful, Astronomers of the Verde Valley and the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department.”
