Yavapai County will soon be starting work on revisions to the County Comprehensive Plan, as required by the Arizona Revised Statutes. The Comprehensive Plan guides decisions by the county on key issues such as rezoning, land use and water use. The current Yavapai County Comprehensive Plan was formulated during a time of economic uncertainty, and emphasizes the need for growth.

Keep Sedona Beautiful recognizes the critical importance of this document, and the imperative that it reflect the desires of Yavapai County residents.

We intend to be as active as possible in the formulation of the plan, and we invite our members to participate in the process.

The current Plan notes that “zoning and rezoning ordinances, regulations and specific area plans must be consistent with and conform to the adopted county plan.” In other words, the Plan guides decision makers as they evaluate rezoning proposals such as El Rojo Grande, Spring Creek Ranch and AutoCamp.

The updated Plan will provide a way to help ensure that critical factors are considered: density, environmental impact, impact on limited resources, sustainability and limits to growth, to name just a few.

If you would like to participate in this process, please let us know by emailing us at ksb@keepsedonabeautiful.org. As the process unfolds, we will contact you to solicit your input on what you believe should be emphasized in the updated Plan.
