The sustainability movement emphasizes the need to reduce the waste we generate. Thus, the focus on such things as eliminating single use plastics and the push to make recycling easy, efficient, and effective.

More broadly, we need to transform our economy from a linear one to a circular one. As the Sustainability Alliance points out, “we need to stop thinking in terms of linear processes and replace them with circular ones, like natural systems.”
