Our focus on dark skies continued. A City of Sedona grant funded dark sky compliant fixtures for three local businesses, and KSB prompted the City of Sedona and Yavapai County to proclaim International Dark Sky Week in 2025. In 2026, we began hosting Dark Sky Viewing events at the EcoHub. To curb noise, a KSB trustee helped the City Council pass an ordinance limiting private sport courts, including pickleball courts, in residential neighborhoods.

We held a Sedona mayoral candidates forum and submitted comments on the Sedona, Cottonwood and Yavapai County plans. KSB also serves on Sedona’s Tourism Advisory Board and the Verde Front Leadership Council.

In 2023, the EcoHub became a net generator of electricity and earned sustainability certifications from VVREO and Friends of the Verde River. In 2025, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the renovated, Firewise EcoHub Educational Garden. In 2026, we launched “Discover the Wonder – An Environmental Education Adventure,” bringing area students to the garden on field trips.

Our Litter Lifters keep more than 54 miles of roadway clean, and we help sponsor the Oak Creek Collaborative Cleanup. Our Speaker Series hosted former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt in 2025, and we launched PreservingTheWonder.org to help visitors enjoy the area responsibly.
